CNC Swiss Machining Services
The concept of the Swiss machine is that the raw material bar itself moves towards the cutting tool that is doing the work rather than the tool traveling to the bar.

CNC machines work by rotating the raw material, which could be round barstock, hex barstock, tubing, a casting, a forging, a slug, etc. Once the raw material is chucked up and spinning, the cutting tool then moves into the spinning raw material and begins moving along its programmed cutting path. The cutting tool removes the raw material to create the desired shape that is required.
When the part requires both turning and milling features, the raw material can be stopped so the machine can move into to mill out the required material. A wide variety of operations such as turning, boring, drilling, milling, reaming, threading, knurling, grooving, trepanning as well as others can be done.
This allows our engineering and manufacturing personnel to program many additional features that can be required on an individual component such as drilled holes, slots, and milled surfaces.
Some CNC turning centers have one spindle, allowing work to be done all from one side, while other CNC turning centers have twin spindles, a main spindle and sub-spindle. Many of our CNC machines have twin spindles with live tooling. When utilizing a twin-spindle machine, a part can be partially machined on the main spindle, then moved to the sub-spindle and have additional work done to the other side of the part, while never coming out of the CNC machine.
At our machining facilities, medium to high volume parts are often run on Gantry style CNC machines that use an automated Gantry system to load pre-cut slugs, raw castings, raw forgings to the machine as well as extract the completed machined part from the machines. While still other machines are automatically fed & unloaded by robots.
Our machining facilities offer precision CNC lathe turning as well as milling services. We have an extensive line of over 170 traditional “chucking type” CNC lathes, vertical machining centers and horizontal machining centers. Our automatic bar-feeders can accommodate bar stock up to 4 inches or 101.6 (mm) and our hand-loaded chucking lathes can hold machined parts up to 16 inches & 406.4 (mm) in diameter. Our Verticle machining centers can machine parts that are up to 20 inches, (508 mm) cubed, while our Horizontal machining centers can machine parts that are up to 30 inches (762 mm)cubed.
CNC turning centers produce precision turned parts with tight tolerances down to +/- .0001” but can produce parts with larger diameters up to 16” (406.4mm).

Common applications of CNC Milling/Turning include almost anything:

One of the key advantages is the ability to run low, medium and high volume production. You can machine any material in almost any form of bar stock, extrusion, tubing, sand casting, permanent mold casting, die casting as well as forgings and powdered metal.
Our machining facilities have over 170 CNC machines and we can partner with you to determine the best machine for each particular part. We have CNC machines with pallets for easy/efficient loading and unloading. We have machines with gantry loading robot arms that can automatically feed raw blanks into a machine and then remove the finished machined part out the other side of the machine.
We also have some fully automated robotic cells that can feed raw material in and remove the finished parts with robots and place them in finished containers.
Our machining facilities have over 170 CNC machines with capabilities of .050 inches in diameter to 16 inches in diameter and lengths up to 24 inches long. Our vertical machining centers go up to 20” cube while our horizontal Machining centers go up to 30” cube. Many machines have twin spindles, gantry loaders as well as robotic loading & extraction from the machines.
Materials Machined: Bar Stock materials including Steel, Stainless steel, Aluminum, Grey & Ductile iron castings, Aluminum as well as SS castings, Cast tubing, Drawn tubing, Forgings of many different materials and many others.

Hydromat machines are a type of rotary transfer machine that utilizes both hydraulically driven and CNC driven motors.
We have two seperate machining facilities focused on machined Castings, Forgings and large diameter bar stock components.
