CNC Swiss Machining Services

The concept of the Swiss machine is that the raw material bar itself moves towards the cutting tool that is doing the work rather than the tool traveling to the bar. Since the cutting tool is not moving, cutting now takes place very close to the guide bushing. This results in much less deflection by the cutter. Parts that require tight tolerances, critical straightness, tight concentricities as well as very smooth surface finishes are all good fits for CNC Swiss machines.

CNC Swiss Machines have one or two spindles. This allows these machines to be fast and efficient. Once a part is programmed, it can be quickly set up and ready to produce custom parts in very short cycle times, in some cases, parts are being completed in as little as 10 seconds. Other parts, depending on how much machining is required, can take well over a minute. This makes them great for small, medium or large production runs of parts up to 1.5 inches in diameter.

The new CNC Swiss machines can often drop parts complete where in the past the same part may have required multiple secondary operations. Typical tolerances that are held on CNC Swiss machines are +/-.0005” (+/-.013mm) depending on the part as well as the raw material.

  • Our facility has been in business for over 70 years, we are in excellent financial shape and we have added about $2,500,000 and 4 new CNC Swiss machines, additional automation equipment, an additional washing system and additional QC equipment over the last year.
  • We have 30 CNC Swiss machines at this manufacturing facility along with 90 other pieces of machining equipment. We have CNC turning and milling machines capable of running 4-inch diameter bar stock and 6-inch diameter tubing. We also have multi-Spindle and Swiss Automatic machines as well.
  • We have over 30 years of experience doing VMI and managing KAN Ban systems.  very accustomed to buying a wide variety of bar stock, cast tubing, drawn tubing, raw forgings, sand castings, investment castings, as well as permanent mold castings. The benefit of starting with a raw casting or a raw forging is that you are starting with a near net shape of the final part you are striving to produce.  Since you're starting with a near net shape, you do not need to remove as much material during the machining process. The end goal is to help our customers meet their required drawing specifications and produce the finished part at the best possible price.
  • Another benefit of using machined forging is that the forging has an upset grain structure that makes the raw material extremely strong. This creates a more difficult part to machine but provides an end product that meets the customers' requirements and provides significant strength as well as the ability to meet high-pressure requirements.
  • We machine Bar stock as well as cast tubing or drawn tubing depending on what raw material will assist in providing the Lowest Total Cost manufacturing process in the end. If the volume of a part is very low, then it will probably not make sense to pay for the cost of a casting pattern or a forging die.
  • Once we understand what the scope of the project is, we can work with your engineers, quality department as well as purchasing group to make recommendations as to what your raw material options could be for each specific component.
