| In House Tool Room | We have a complete in-house tool room where we build the majority of our new dies & maintain all our current dies in-house. We track the number of shots on every die we have in house & document all maintenance. |
Common Applications of Zinc Die Castings:
We have 30 high-speed Techmire zinc die-cast presses and 3 state of the Frech conventional cells with robots.
Precision zinc die casting is one of the most efficient manufacturing processes available to produce near-net shape metal parts using a wide variety of zinc alloys. You can generate significantly more strength, as well as metal conductivity than you could get from an injection-molded plastic part. Zinc die castings can be produced with little draft, create many different holes using side actions, provide excellent surface finishes, do in die decating and often times produce parts that require little to no secondary operations.
Similar to injection molding, you build a custom mold made out of tool steel and then place that mold into the die-cast press. The die-cast press applies enormous pressure to inject the molten zinc material into the steel mold. Hence, creating the term High Pressure die casting.
One of the main benefits of Zinc die castings over aluminum die castings is that the zinc material melts at a much lower temperature compared to aluminum. 700-760 degrees for zinc versus 1,000 to 1,100 degrees for aluminum. Because the zinc material melts at a temperature 300-400 degrees lower; The pumping mechanism for pulling the molten zinc material can be located directly in the bath of zinc material. Hence the name (Hot Chamber die casting) vs Aluminum where the aluminum must be ladled into the die-cast press, also referred to as (Cold Chamber die castings). As a result of the material being 300 to 400 lower temperature, this results in a much longer tooling life for zinc die-cast molds usually lasting over 1 million shots where aluminum molds may only last 75,000 to 250,000 shots.
You can convert parts from a wide variety of other manufacturing processes as well as multiple-piece assemblies into zinc die castings. Some of the other immediate benefits of zinc die casting include.
We have been producing Wire Forms, Springs, Clips, Welded assemblies as well as Four-Slide & Multi-Slide parts for 68 years.
We have enormous experience at providing an average of an 85% reduction in the amount of raw materials required in our customers' applications.
Our specialty coating facilities are two of the most advanced coating facilities in the World. They have been in business for over 117 years.
Converted 4 purchased parts, 1 assembly operation & 4 secondary operations into a complete Zinc die casting with a cost Reduction of 347%
Converted assembly of multiple components into a Zinc die casting resulting in a 34%cost reduction in piece part cost, a reduction in lead time and reduced inventory.
We converted one steel machined plate requiring 22 secondary operations into a complete Zinc die casting with a cost reduction of 422%.
Converted a machined Bronze pump housing into a Zinc die casting resulting in a 82% cost reduction in raw material alone and removed the need for customer to hand clean the parts.
Converted a ABS plastic component into a Zinc die casting resulting in increased strength to meet customer demands, the ability to ground mating parts which solved customers problem & met the target price.
